SALT WATER

Lulworth cove
My favorite type of fishing has to be sea fishing. The possibilities are endless, there
are many more species to hunt at unknown sizes, these fish can turn up anywhere you
just have to be in the right place at the right time.
Me and my friends like to fish a few south coast marks, mainly deep rocky marks for
conger pollack wrasse gars etc.

Berry head quarry Brixham
Berry head quarry is one of my favorite marks it offers conger, huss, bass, cod,
pollack, wrasse, plus lots of smaller species. During the day we fish for mackerel
gar, pollack and wrasse, at night we fish for the conger. The best state of tide has
to be around low tide when the flow has eased, neap tides seem to produce best
results. We have landed conger to double figures and lost one or two bigger fish
in the snags.

Sun rise on portland bill
Another rocky venue we fish is portland bill this mark is better for the wrasse and
pollack but there are fewer conger around.

Sun set over the river crouch
Being Essex boys the rivers Crouch & Blackwater get explored by us occasionally
we have found lots of good marks both on shore and afloat. From the shore we have
found very good bass, mullet, and herring fishing. On the boat we have located productive
areas for bass, mullet, thornback rays, sting rays, cod, and tope. My pal Rob caught a
carp from a salt water mark on one of these rivers, you never know what you will catch.

When we look for areas to fish we look for areas where fish might shoal up to feed
like mussel beds or gullies. Good places to look are bends in the river where the
tide makes a back eddie and where creeks enter the river, these can be good hot spots.
